About Native Droid Games
An independent publication about building games close to the Android platform. Written by the editors, paid for by nobody, published since March 2025.
What we cover
Native game development on Android: the NDK and its toolchain, Vulkan and the parts of the graphics pipeline that behave differently on a phone, audio latency, frame profiling, power and thermal limits, memory budgets and packaging. We do not cover engine-specific tutorials, monetisation, store optimisation or anything that requires a marketing account to read.
How we work
Every article starts from a scene we can run and a device we can hold. Measurements name the device class, the OS version and the settings, and the tables say how the numbers were produced. When a result depends on a vendor driver, the text says so. When we cannot reproduce something, we write that instead of repeating a plausible number.
We buy the test devices ourselves. Two of the phones in our measurements are borrowed from readers for a month at a time, and the loan is disclosed in the article that uses them. No vendor has ever seen a draft before publication, and none has been offered the chance.
The editors
Three people, working under one byline because the pieces are edited collectively and the byline is not a brand. There are no photographs on this page, no personal accounts and no individual contact addresses; the work is the identity.
Platform and toolchain
Follows the NDK releases, keeps the sample projects building, and writes the build and packaging pieces.
Graphics and performance
Runs the frame traces, maintains the benchmark scene, and argues about percentiles.
Audio and systems
Measures latency, reads the platform audio policy, and owns the long-form editing pass.
Corrections
A published number that turns out to be wrong gets a dated note at the top of the article and, if the conclusion changes, a rewrite with the old version kept on the site. Silent edits are not allowed. The community page explains how to send a correction; the fastest ones come with a command and a log.
Independence and money
There are no ads, no sponsored posts and no affiliate links. Hosting costs are paid by the editors, and the site is static so the bill is small. If that changes, this page will say so before the first paid piece appears.
Licensing
The prose is copyright the editors. Code blocks in articles are released under CC0: copy them, change them, ship them, no attribution required. The site's own CSS and HTML are not a template to redistribute.
